Delete Your Data
Last updated: September 5, 2026
This page explains how to delete your Kinwood account and the data associated with it, either from within the app or by contacting us. Kinwood is operated by Kinwood Corporation.
Delete Your Account In The App
You can delete your account directly in the Kinwood app:
- Open the Kinwood app and go to Profile → Account Settings.
- If you have an active subscription, cancel it in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting your Kinwood account does not cancel your subscription.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm the request. Your account and active Kinwood app data will be deleted. The limited records described below may be retained.
Request Account Deletion By Email
If you can't access the app, you can request account deletion by email instead:
- Send an email to support@kinwood.co from the email address associated with your Kinwood account.
- Use the subject line "Account deletion request".
- Include the name or email on your Kinwood account so we can locate it.
- We will verify that the request comes from the account owner, delete your account, and email you to confirm once it is complete.
We process verified email requests within 30 days of receipt.
Delete Specific Data Without Deleting Your Account
You can also delete only certain data while keeping your Kinwood account active. The following can be deleted individually from within the app:
- Your visible recently played history
- Playlists
- Downloads
- Journal entries
Open the relevant section in the Kinwood app and use the delete option to remove that data. If you'd prefer, you can also email support@kinwood.co from your account email address, using the subject line "Data deletion request" and listing which of the above you would like deleted. We process verified email requests within 30 days.
Data That Is Deleted With Your Account
When your account deletion request is completed, we delete the following active data from Kinwood's systems:
- Your Kinwood sign-in account and profile information, including your name and email address.
- Your journal entries, journal photos, and journal voice notes.
- Your playlists, favorites, visible listening history, download records, and preferences.
- Kinwood activity and play records linked directly to your account.
- Guest identity and activity that was linked to your account when you signed up.
Data That May Be Kept
We may retain a limited amount of data after account deletion where we are required or permitted to do so:
| Type of data | Reason kept | Retention period |
|---|---|---|
| App store and subscription transaction records held by Apple, Google, Kinwood, or our subscription service providers | Legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and purchase-restoration requirements | As required by applicable law and the service provider's retention obligations (typically up to 7 years) |
| Previously recorded security, product-analytics, crash, and diagnostic events held by service providers | Protect the service, diagnose failures, prevent abuse, and measure aggregate product performance | Until the applicable service provider's configured retention period expires, unless a longer period is legally required |
| Backups containing residual data | Backups are rotated on a fixed schedule | Purged within 30 days |
Retained records are access-restricted, are not used to reactivate or personalize a deleted account, and are deleted or de-identified when their applicable retention period ends.
